What's the idea of having a musical theatre concert?
Everybody loves musicals, or so I've been told. Incredible power and emotion come together whenever great theatrical moments are given musical wings.
The problem with musicals is their size and the inherent risk that goes with putting big shows together. But if you take away a musical's grandeur, is there anything left?
We're glad to report that the answer is 'Yes!'. And our musical theatre concert is welcome compromise. We've brought together some of the most exciting musical theatre talent around.
Our exotic talent roster includes a horror movie star, a mother of two, a seasoned producer, an arts administrator, a Gilbert and Sullivan diva, and a veteran of 50 musical productions, to name just a few.
Some of these folks are no stranger to the area; Michelle, Neil and I all performed here last summer and Neil will be back again this year to star in a new musical production. We love the region and look forward to sharing its charm with our colleagues.
In this production, we are not merely recreating scenes from the different shows. In some cases, we are doing radical new interpretations of the material. Our main goal is to show the universal strength and unique appeal of musical theatre.
Thanks to a generous contribution from Otto Bock Health Care Canada, we are able to offer free tickets to this first concert. We hope this makes it easier for everyone to take advantage of this unique one-time-only musical production.
Come and share the experience you can only get with live musical theatre. We look forward to enchanting you on May 14th.
Sincerely yours,
Stephen Pietrantoni
